White House personnel announcements and Justice Department demands in the wake of Tuesday's midterm elections converged with a municipal housing misinformation response in Los Angeles on November 7, 2026.

Trump Publicly Offers White House Press Secretary Role to UFC CEO Dana White

President Donald Trump used a Truth Social post to publicly offer Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Chief Executive Officer Dana White the job of White House press secretary, according to national political dispatches and wire reports. The unconventional public offer comes as the West Wing seeks a permanent spokesperson following Karoline Leavitt's departure in August and interim appointee Katie Zacharia's brief 5-day tenure in the position.

In the same post-midterm reorganization, the White House confirmed that senior policy adviser Stephen Miller will succeed Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff. White, a longtime political ally who spoke at the Republican National Convention, had not publicly accepted the press secretary offer as of Saturday.

President Calls on DOJ and Attorney General Todd Blanche to Probe Congressional Democrats

In a separate series of statements following Tuesday's election results—in which Democrats captured control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, with projections showing Democrats holding 52 seats to Republicans' 46 in the 100-member Senate, short of the 67 votes required for an impeachment conviction—President Trump called on the U.S. Department of Justice and Attorney General Todd Blanche to investigate congressional Democrats and specifically targeted Michigan Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin over alleged statements toward Republican officials.

False Social Media Housing Rumor Draws Crowd to Westlake's 294-Bed Mayfair Hotel

In municipal governance, hundreds of residents gathered outside the 294-bed Mayfair Hotel at 1256 W. 7th Street in Los Angeles's Westlake neighborhood after a viral social media post falsely claimed that city housing staff were handing out walk-in permanent housing vouchers at the building. Housing officials clarified that admission to the historic 1926 property operates strictly by pre-screened referral under Mayor Karen Bass's Inside Safe initiative.

The City of Los Angeles purchased the Mayfair Hotel in August 2023 for $60 million and allocated an additional $19 million for seismic and building renovations plus $4 million for operational oversight—bringing total municipal investment to $83 million—before reopening the facility on May 1, 2024. City records show the Mayfair is 1 of 38 hotels and motels utilized by the Inside Safe program, which has delivered more than 57,533 interim housing room nights across Los Angeles.
