Varsity girls flag football athletes at Heritage High School in Brentwood swept a two-game tournament on Saturday, October 17, dominating non-league opponents and setting a new all-time scoring mark. Competing along American Avenue in eastern Contra Costa County, the Patriots defeated St. Mary's of Stockton 39-13 in the morning game before routing Moreau Catholic 70-13 in the afternoon contest. Liberty Union High School District athletics officials and East Bay sports commissioners praised the effort as Heritage extended its winning streak to five consecutive games.

The 70-13 victory over Moreau Catholic set a Heritage High School program record for points in a game, surpassing the previous program record of 64 points set against Antioch in the 2025 season opener. With Saturday's sweep, Heritage improved to 14-7 overall and 9-1 in Bay Valley Athletic League (BVAL) conference play. Coaching staff members and school board supporters from Brentwood, Concord, Danville, and Walnut Creek noted that the squad's crisp execution kept visiting defenses off balance all afternoon.

While the offense piled up points, Heritage's defense anchored the tournament sweep by recording four pick-sixes against Moreau Catholic. Standout defender Grace Luna recorded three interception returns for touchdowns, while teammate Daniya Jordan added one pick-six return to cap the record margin. Head coach Jason Jeffrey said that over the last two years especially, the defense has always been the foundation of this team, adding that this year it is the same thing.

Girls flag football has grown rapidly across Contra Costa and Alameda county school districts since earning championship sanctioning from the North Coast Section athletic board. Municipal recreation department coordinators in Brentwood, San Ramon, and Pleasanton reported a 35 percent jump in youth girls flag football clinic registrations this autumn, backed by $15,000 in community athletics equipment funding. High school athletic directors across the BVAL expect Heritage's 9-1 league record to earn a top postseason seed.

Families, students, and East County supporters can view upcoming BVAL schedules, playoff brackets, and ticket details online at luhsd.net or by calling the Heritage High School athletics office at (925) 634-0037. Patriot Stadium at 101 American Avenue in Brentwood opens gates 60 minutes before scheduled kickoffs between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, with general admission priced at $8 for adults and $5 for students.
