Livermore police add two ways to give to the Stuff the Cruiser drive

The Livermore Police Department has widened its annual Stuff the Cruiser school supply drive to three ways of giving, the department said Monday. Two of them are new this year.

The drive takes new school supplies, and everything donated goes to local students and teachers getting ready for the school year, the department said. The department said the added options are meant to make contributing easier.

The in-person event is Saturday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Walmart. Shoppers buy supplies during the event and hand them over on the way out, and the cruiser fills up over the course of the day.

For anyone who cannot make that Saturday, a donation bin marked "Cruiser 54" sits in the Livermore Police Department lobby and takes new school supplies through Aug. 3.

The third option skips the shopping. Donors can email an Amazon e-gift card to CommunityOutreach@LivermoreCA.gov, and the department buys what is still needed on the donor's behalf.
