Dublin sets two meetings on 19 homes revived at Schaefer Ranch

The City of Dublin is set to hold two community meetings this month to discuss a proposal by Discovery Builders, Inc., to construct 19 single-family homes in the Schaefer Ranch neighborhood. The meetings, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m., and Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m., will cover the same material, giving residents a choice of times to participate in the discussion.

The proposed development, which has been a topic of local interest for several years, will impact the community by adding new housing options to the area. The 19 homes, including 18 on a 6.87-acre site at the western end of Dublin Boulevard and one on the western edge of Ridgeline Place, are designed with three floor plans and four architectural styles. This development could potentially affect local traffic patterns and community dynamics, making these meetings crucial for residents to voice their concerns and suggestions.

The project dates back to 2016 when the Site Development Review (SDR) permit was initially approved. However, residential construction never commenced within the approved timeframe, causing the permit to expire. Discovery Builders is now seeking a new SDR permit, a lot line adjustment, and a conditional use permit to allow for minor changes to the architectural standards set in the Stage 2 Development Plan adopted as Ordinance No. 06-16. This plan governs the 18 Unit 3 lots and is a significant part of the city's ongoing development strategy.
